Raintree (3000 year old Bristlecone Pine Tree) Hike

Join me for a fun hike to Raintree, a 3,000 year old Bristlecone Pine Tree on Sunday, July 19, 2026! (read everything)

Things to bring: Water (minimum 2L), lunch, jacket, sunblock, bag/backpack.

Raintree is one of the jewels of the Spring Mountains! The trail starts by passing through some ponderosa pines and white fir, eventually opening up to some fantastic views of the dramatic peaks nearby and showcasing some amazing Bristlecone Pines. While this hike is all trail, you'll still get a good workout going up the switchbacks. Once we reach Raintree, we'll take a lunch break. If there is any interest, we can hike over to Mummy Springs, which is only another 1/3 mile. On the way back, we'll likely descend into Wild Horse Canyon, an alternate descent route with less people and a bit more shade. Time permitting, we'll stop for a 10-15 minute meditation in a peaceful shady spot in the canyon, before returning to the trailhead.

*** CAUTIONS FOR DOG OWNERS ***

• You don't have to keep your dog on leash, but you should have a leash with you. They will need to be on leash as we pass other dogs/hikers on the trail and at the trailhead, which is along a busy road.
• This is a VERY popular trail for hikers.
• There are wild animals around, including snakes, lizards, chipmunks, squirrels and mountain lions (I've never seen one, but they are out here).
• Bring food and water for your pups to enjoy!

There will be a strict maximum of 15 people, total. Please do not bring any unapproved guests. Everyone going should be signed up on this event page, or should have made plans with me privately.
