Let's take advantage of the cooler mornings!!!!
Kraft Mountain: This is a fun, short, and easy scrambling hike. We will follow a track that I recorded last time I was there with Rob Shaw - I think its called PEGASUS route. I always see pegasus every time I go there but who cares about the name?
We will be taking a more direct route going up and a standard route coming down.
Shoes with Stealth or Vibram soles highly recommended for this hike and any rock scrambling hike in Red Rock Canyon.
STATS: Hike: Kraft Mountain Trailhead: End of Sandstone Drive - unmarked Distance: 2.5 miles – up and back Elevation gain: 1,000 feet Elevation peak: 4,714 feet Time: 2 hours Difficulty: 2 Class: 3+ Pace: Moderate & Steady Pace- 3/5
What to Bring
*2L of water.
Snacks *Gloves - helpful Helmet – optional, but they do protect your head in case of a fall or falling debris.
Safety is the first priority of our hikes. Therefore, all hikers in our group, including another leader who joins us, will stay behind the leader and in front of the sweeper.
Group Hiking: Stay with the group behind the leader. If you don’t want to stay with us, you can always go hiking on your own, though it’s not recommended. Don’t run ahead. If you start to get too far behind, shout ahead before you’re out of range for someone to hear you. I always endeavor to keep track of everyone’s progress, but ultimately, it’s your responsibility to communicate what you need.
