Hollow Rock Peak: L-2 Chip

This will be a moderate paced hike. Please read the whole hike description.

Hollow Rock Peak is in the southern portion of Red Rock and we will be taking the back or top route from Mountain Springs Pass trailhead. The hike is 5 miles out-and-back with 1,650 feet of elevation gain. The first 3/4 is trail and the last 1/4 is sandstone class 2 scrambling. The hike is moderately strenuous and the pace is moderate. This is a short, fast hike.

Safety is the first priority of our hikes. Therefore, all hikers in our group, including another leader who joins us, will stay behind the leader and in front of the sweeper.

Group Hiking: Stay with the group behind the leader. If you don’t want to stay with us, you can always go hiking on your own, though it’s not recommended. Don’t run ahead. If you start to get too far behind, shout ahead before you’re out of range for someone to hear you. I always endeavor to keep track of everyone’s progress, but ultimately, it’s your responsibility to communicate what you need.
