Deer Grove Forest Preserve in Palatine
The Hike: This is an intermediate hike. We will meet at 9:30 AM for the hike. We will be hiking at 9:40 AM sharp. The hike is around 5.5-6 miles. The trail is mostly wooded, with wetlands in other areas. This might be a muddy hike in some areas.
General: Safety First- Fun Second. We will maintain a moderate pace focused on feeling good, having fun, making new friends, and enjoying each other's company. We will allow enough time for potty breaks, photos, rest stops, snacks, and enjoying the scenery. Please bring/wear appropriate footwear, plenty of fluids, and maybe a snack.
Dogs: Dogs are welcome on this hike. Dogs must be good with other dogs and people. We can have a few dogs on our hikes. Please post in the comments if you bring your dog.
Attendance: If sign-up is too low, the event can be canceled. Please be considerate of the organizer's time, as we receive no compensation for researching, organizing, leading, or administering any events. PLEASE only sign up if you're 100% sure you are going.
Removal Policy: You will be removed from the N2BD group after 2-3 no-shows or for a single act of irresponsible behavior that endangers the safety or well-being of the group.
Wait-list Policy: Due to the high number of people wanting to join our hikes at times, there are acceptance conditions. Priority will be given to those who have been active in the N2BD group.
Finding Us: I will post in the comments area below my cell and the meetup location the day before the event. Anything else you might need to find us will also be posted.
Weather: If it rains or snows, we might cancel the hike.
